JoBlo.com has what’s reported to be production art for three villains from two upcoming Marvel films: Dr. Doom from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Green Goblin II and Venom from Spider-Man 3. We’ve glimpsed Venom previously, but if these are the real deal, I believe this is our first look at the other two.
Doom is much-improved. However, Green Goblin II looks like a refugee from an early-’90s comic.

Wish Doom’s chestplate thing was a different color. It just looks like hes walking around half naked. (yes i know he’s encased in armor).
At least venom’s white logo is back

What is it about the Green Goblin that they go so far out of their way to make him NOT look like the Green Goblin? The only thing he’s missing is a Mountain Dew and a bag of Extreme Doritos.

That Goblin’s dialogue should all be in IM-ese.
And I’ve never understood the idea of having armor carved with a six pack, either. As for the design, it says “stylist” more than “engineer,” “parrty kid” more than “emperor.”

See, now I would actually watch the movie if they did that.

Feel the MEH that is Dr. Doom!

Wasn’t Doom essentially turning into metal in the FF movie?
February 9th, 2007 at 11:14 am
Jeez! You last two guys oughta have a whoopin’!
That DOOM is nigh-perfect! Regal and powerfull, great.
Venom’s lookin’ just right too.

“First look”? Erm, we saw those videogame concept art renderings of Venom and Goblin II (or “Night Surfer”) back in NOVEMBER, and we got a pretty decent look at Harry’s costume in the trailer, as well. Plus it’s now known that Venom’s costume doesn’t add the white spider – it simply expands the dark one from Peter’s costume.

Finally, a decent looking Doom. If he looks like that in the movies, I might be willing to forgive FF 1

Shouldn’t this Doom have goat feet?
February 9th, 2007 at 11:54 am
Looks like Doom crossed with Maximus from Gladiator.
February 9th, 2007 at 12:21 pm
Please don’t let the sequel suck like the first one did…
February 9th, 2007 at 1:28 pm
Well it looks a HELL of a lot better than the first Doom, but the chestplate needs to be green
Aside from his look, Tim Story should just completely retcon the first movie’s Doom and take away his retarded lightning powers

Nice Roman motif for Doom.

“Wish Doom’s chestplate thing was a different color. It just looks like hes walking around half naked. (yes i know he’s encased in armor).”
I guess you’re not a fan of the Imperial Rome/Gladiator-type of movies. :p

Folks………..that’s the Rocket Racer.

i have nothing but hate for the goblin costume.its hard to beleive sam rami would ok such a bad design.it makes me hate youth culture
February 10th, 2007 at 12:18 am
That is a big improvement over Doom’s look from the first one. As for the chestplate needing to be a different color, maybe he IS half naked and those markings are like tatoos (sort of).
February 10th, 2007 at 2:33 am
I don’t like the chestplate. The design on it gives too much of a Greek vibe. Feels a little Norse too, only with snakes instead of dragons or horses.
February 10th, 2007 at 10:29 am
To shoeshine,
Who’s to say that Latervian culture isn’t descended from Norse culture? After all, comic writers haven’t exactly explored the origins of Latveria to the extent of other countries introduced in the FF comics like Attilan and Wakanda. So, the breastplate’s design would make sense in this context.
Then again, the designs could be tattoos since the movie Dr. Doom’s body like Ultimate Doom is composed of organic metal.
Either way, this look is a quantum leap over Doom’s appearance in FF 1.

Goblin2 – Night Thrasher, anyone? y’know, IF Dwayne was a wigger? Too bad Rocket Racer is black, too.
Venom – nice combo of movie and comic costumes.
Doom – looks ok, regal and such. I probably would have the shirted tunic instead of just the cape and kilt.

so Kolimar…do you like Gladiator movies? ;p

Uhm. I’m pretty sure the character is Harry Osborne, not the Green Goblin. As in, he’s not trying to be a supervillain and have a look or theme. He’s an angry guy who is using his dead father’s supervillain weapons.

I think all of you have horrible taste because first of all his lighting powers were raw secondly the fisrt fantastic 4 movie was raw thridly harry’s costume is even better than his dads and dr.dooms costume was raw on the first movie too like in the comics but way better.

What you have to understand is that everybody has abs. The difference is that some people’s abs are covered by more fat than other people’s abs.
