You know, Spatterhouse? Gory video game for the TurboGraphix 16? Involved running through a haunted house wearing a creepy mask and splattering all sorts of monsters and zombies in the best pre-PlayStation fashion?
Game caused a bit of a ruckus among parents’ groups at the time as I recall.
Anyone?
Well, the folks at the video game news site Kotaku remember, and they’ve posted the original 1990 comic book ad for the game that ran way back in issue 90 of Alpha Flight. Apparently your purpose in the game was to save your girlfriend Jennifer, which is news to me. I just thought you were there to make the monster blood go spurt, spurt. You can see a more readable version of the strip here.

Pepperidge Farm Remembers.
And so do I. This ad haunted me for ages, because I couldn’t remember the name of the dang thing.
Finally got a chance to play it about last year. Awful game. Cool ad.

Yes I remember this ad…
It was one of those ads you kinda have stick in your head.

Of course it stuck in your head, it was in every Marvel comic for several months.
I remember this ad more than some of the comics of that time.
