K. Thor Jensen interviews himself over at UGO about his new graphic novel, Red Eye, Black Eye:
KTJ-1: So, our book opens up with us getting laid off in mid-2001. Are you saying that without that traumatic event, we wouldn’t be a published graphic novelist?
KTJ-2: Maybe not! While I treasure the time of the height of the dot-com boom, it’s a matter of public record that I got horrendously fat and lazy working off a steady diet of Hostess Fruit Pies for breakfast. Without the shock to the system that being unemployed and homeless brought, I might have become some sort of Jabba the Hutt type creature instead of the lean figure of sinew and talent that I am now.
