An interview with Larry Gonick

Look at that. Four posts in and I’m already doing some shameless self-promotion. That’s gotta be some kind of record.Insert The Cartoon History of the Modern World, Vol. 1 (CHMW1_cover.gif)

Anyway, I recently had the opportunity to talk with cartoonist Larry Gonick, whose “Cartoon History of the Universe” books are some of the best and funniest nonfiction comics you can.

He’s got a new book out now, “The Cartoon History of the Modern World Vol. 1,” which is actually the fourth volume in the “Universe” series. In the interview, he talks about the name change, the amount of research he does, the problems with modern education and the challenges of doing a book of this nature.

I’m a little surprised that more ink hasn’t been spilled about the release of this book. Gonick is an incredibly talented, informative cartoonist, and this new title is one of the best in the series yet. So do yourself a favor. Read then interview, and then go pick up a copy of the book. It’s really good.
