No “Heroes” spinoffs planned for next TV season

February 2nd, 2007

I don’t think there’s a better Web site for keeping up on news about genre sci-fi/horror movies and TV shows than Aussie-based Dark Horizons, where a pair of news bits today caught my attention.

On the TV pilot side for the fall 2007 season, nobody’s even coming close to trying to clone Heroes, a good thing, I think. Strangely, however, there will be no shortage for genre-style sci-fi pilots for the networks to choose from. Among the pretenders vying for a spot on the tube this fall:

  • John Conner learns how to beat the Terminators from his mom in the Sarah Conner Chronicles. (Fox)
  • A Bionic Woman reboot. (NBC)
  • Quantum Leap-redo with an emphasis on the downbeat in Journeyman. (NBC)
  • A BBC import about a modern-day cop who wakes up in the 70s called Life on Mars. (ABC)
  • A vampire PI who falls in love with a mortal called Twilight, not Dark Shadows with Guns. (CBS)
  • Adventures of an extraterrestrial “sleeper cell” who learn to like feeling human called Them. (Fox)

  1. Palladin Says:

Even if the FOX shows air, any buzz dies once Baseball comes in to play. Probably be Friday Night oblivion as well.

NBC better not mess up the Bionic Woman reboot, I want that one to succeed.

  2. Rich Johnston Says:

Life On Mars is a great show. Second series about to start here.

Gene Hunt is a character Philip Gleneister was born to play.

  3. Skyhawk Says:

“A vampire PI who falls in love with a mortal called Twilight.”
    Sounds like Angel.
