The Hollywood Reporter reports on Warner Bros. Pictures snatching up another Wonder Woman script from two newcomers:
So why does the studio want another “Wonder Woman” script? Sources said the purchase is a pre-emptive measure aimed at taking the spec off the market to protect itself against the possibility that any similarities between the scripts could be fodder for future legal action. It is understood that the Jennison-Strickland script is set against the backdrop of World War II, while Whedon’s script is set in the present day.
Silver has no interest in making a period “Wonder Woman,” sources said. But as the spec script made the rounds, it landed at Silver Pictures, and executives there were impressed by Jennison and Strickland’s writing.

I sure as hell hope they don’t do a World War 2 movie. Joss is too cool for that rehashed bullplop.

I’d rather see the WW2 movie. It sounds like a fun idea, and it’s actually written, unlike Whedon’s phantom script.

Maybe they could make the second Wonder Woman movie a prequel set in WW2.
Who doesn’t love a prequel?

Who doesn’t love a prequel?
Old, grumpy Star Wars fans…
Sorry couldn’t resist!

It’s just a spec script. Not a fully written one. What’s more disturbing is that apparently all you have to do to make money in hollywood is write a spec script for a movie you KNOW is being developed and shop it around to other studios.

fwiw a spec script is a full script – “spec” means written on “speculation”, ie it wasn’t commissioned to be written, it was just written in the hopes it would land in the right place and be bought.

My idea for a Wonder Woman movie would be to start off in WWII, she disappears after the war and reappears in the 21st Century when she is needed again.

It could work. Perhaps as an animated movie.
