Since I joined the Blog Squad at Newsarama, I’ve been keeping up with the interesting story behind the sudden cancellation by DC/Wildstorm of The Boys from Matt Brady’s story last week and Graeme’s link to Rich Johnston’s peek behind the curtain.
I can’t argue the pros and cons of cancelling the book, because I haven’t read it. That said, I think you’ll be as interested as I was in reviewing Sam Hobart’s piece on the MacGuffin Web site about the practical problem retailers may experience with selling The Boys down the line from another publisher.
Sam’s major argument: The heretofore upward trendline saleswise for The Boys will be hard for any other publisher to match, simply due to so many non-indy-friendly comics retailers who won’t order deep on anything beyond the Big Two (DC, Marvel) and the mid-majors (Image, Dark Horse).
