Alan Moore’s going to be busy in 2008

A HUGE thank you to a bald birdy for tapping me on the shoulder about Top Shelf Productions’ sizeable publishing plans with Alan Moore in 2008. And they look very interesting indeed…

After DC’s run with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen concludes with The Black Dossier, Moore and artist Kevin O’Neill move to Top Shelf (and Knockabout in the UK) begins in earnest with volume 3, titled Century. Unlike the multiple-pamphlet format of previous America’s Best Comics series or a one-off graphic novel in the case of Black Dossier, Century is a three-part story, published as self-contained 72-page graphic novels, packaged “to avoid frustrating cliff-hanger delays between episodes.”

What’s more, the three-part graphic novel series “builds to an apocalyptic conclusion occurring in our own current twenty-first century.” Cooool…

If you’re any kind of Moore fan, you know his love for and belief in magic. You’ll get to see it on vivid display in a 320-page book, The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic, co-written with Steve Moore and lavishly illustrated by a slew of Moore’s frequent collaborators — Melinda Gibbie (Lost Girls), Jose Villarubia (Mirror of Love) and O’Neill — as well as a slew of others to be announced shortly.

Check out more extensive descriptions of Century and The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic at Top Shelf’s Web site on the middle of the page after the listing for From Hell.

Seen this, yet: Resonance FM DJ Alex Fitch recently interviewed Moore on such subjects as LoEG, magic and stickin’ to yer guns.

It’s all podcasted-up if you just click here.

Gonna be a wait… but I’d still love to see these when they hit (Black Dossier, too).

Fantastic news! Top Shelf, Moore, O’Neill have my support and deserve every bit of it.
