Gentlemen, start your engines! (And fight evil!)

I don’t know why, exactly, but I find this really, really weird: Actor Nicolas Cage, star of the upcoming Ghost Rider, has been named grand marshal of the 49th annual Daytona 500. That means he’ll announce, “Gentlemen, start your engines” at the Feb. 18 NASCAR race. Ghost Rider opens two days earlier.

They no longer say “gentlemen”. It’s now “drivers, start your engines”, unless the marshall ad libs, which is frowned upon by NASCAR.

Its not too weird. Fox wants to promote Ghost Rider (which they are involved with-not sure how) and I think they have the rights to broadcast this years Daytona 500.

Its just corporate synergy cross promotion. There will probably be a ton of commericial for Ghost Rider during the race broadcast.

Can’t be any stranger than when the Batmobile lead the field in warm-up pace laps before the Batman Begins 400 the weekend that movie opened.
