QuickDFW.com takes a look at the history behind Novaris Entertainment’s upcoming title Roadkill Zoo … the artist survived the tsunami in Indonesia in December 2004, but his artwork for the title didn’t:
The first issue, in stores today ($2.50, Novaris Entertainment), was supposed to be released in 2005. But the book’s penciller, Buddy Setiawan, lives in Indonesia. When the tsunami hit in December 2004, all of his artwork was lost.
“Everything he owned was destroyed, and he had to redraw the first issue from scratch,” writer Nicole Jones said via e-mail yesterday. “Working on the book really kept him focused in the middle of disaster.”
Preview artwork and more details on the book can be found at its website.
