Defunct: not operating or functioning. Inactive.

When they do another cartoon or comic or whatever (and I sincerely hope they do), they will no longer be defunct.

First, I should point out that Milestone Media is not defunct, but has simply stopped publishing comics. Note that the company was behind the hit cartoon Static Shock.

Milestone co-owner Dwayne McDuffie has the full clarification of the company's status:

Now, I applaud Colleen Doran for sharing her excellent artwork from Technique. I was really looking forward to the mini because Technique is one of my favorite heroines.

Tim,

Thanks for the update. I'll try to check out her Claypool stuff. I did read the Order and enjoyed it.

I interviewed her back when she worked with Busiek on the reworked Defenders (The Order) a number of years ago. At that time (2001/2002) she discussed doing some Powerpuff Girls work and work at Claypool. And she apparently did some work on a Naruto book back in 2003. After that, I can find nothing on her.

What happened to Jo Duffy, anyway? She wrote the best Power Man and Iron Fist ever, and for a while, I was sure she'd take over the X-Men when Claremont left -- but he lasted much longer on the book than I expected.
