It may just be me, but when a story is headlined “Is Battlestar Galactica cancelled? Verheiden responds” (Well, they say “respods,” but you know what they meant) and trailed with the following:
Rumors have swirled that “Battlestar: Galactica” might not make it to a third season. REFLECTIONS writer Robert Taylor spoke with producer Mark Verheiden who addressed that possibility.
…then you might expect there to be, you know, some kind of answer to whether Galactica has been cancelled (And yes, I know the show’s in its third season already; they mean the fourth season. Honestly). Instead, what you get is this exchange:
In speaking with Robert, Verheiden addressed the situation when asked if the show was indeed cancelled.
Mark Verheiden: We just finished working out this story for this “Battlestar” movie we’ve been talking about. “Battlestar” hasn’t been picked up yet, and none of us are sure what is going on.Robert Taylor: Oh dear, you aren’t going to leave us with a big cliffhanger like the Cylons taking over a planet again, are you?
Mark Verheiden: Well, if it were to end now, there are going to be a lot of unhappy fans.
Look for more with Verheiden on both his work for DC Comics and what’s in store for “Battlestar: Galactica” next Sunday.
Well, now I feel like the subject’s been properly addressed.

CBR; it’s like a slightly-retarded Newsarama.

I don’t think that’s true at all; I just think that this was a non-story given an extremely misleading headline and lead-in…

TOO SOON! RON MOORE GOTTA EAT = FLAMING NIPPLES ON OPTIM- …
What? This isn’t an AICN talkback? Whoops! Sorry my bad… hee hee hee
Well given all the rumors this week about the reported cancellation, then the denials (from Sci-Fi themselves) that it had been cancelled and the reaffirmation that a renewal decision wouldn’t be made until February AND the news about a DVD movie that won’t be made unless a 4th season is guaranteed, I can see why CBR would want to jump on the bandwagon with at least something. I mean just about everyone else has covered it this week so why the hell not right?
Oh and I’m sure the fact that the second half of season 3 debuts this Sunday couldn’t have anything to do with all this “news” either could it?

You left out “DAMN YOU, MICHAEL BAY!”

With this logic…Heroes was possibly canceled, until it was renew with a few other shows just this past day.
Difference between canceled and not renewed yet, is lost on newsarama and their need for sensationalism and click through

Newsarama? You mean CBR, right…?

Always looking for the self-defense, eh?
By the by, my original comment was in reference to the Captain Marvel / Superman comment by the Bone guy. Pay attention.

Does anyone really expect better? When both CBR and Newsarama are largely just clearing houses for press releases and publisher hype, why should you expect any kind of accurate reportage or headlines?
I’m surprised the article wasn’t actually for a 6 page preview of a new Battlestar mini-series and an interview where Verheiden told us how excited he is about his newest project.

As much as I love Newsarama, I just have to say that CBR is the best comics-related website on the internet.
As for that article… I dunno.

CBR certainly has the best columnists.
And me, too.
