Somehow, I don’t think this is what Marvel had in mind at the beginning of Civil War. Three writers for the Easton, Pa., Express-Times select Iron Man as Best Villain in their 2006 comics round-up:
At the start of Marvel’s ”Civil War,” Iron Man vows to bring in Captain America and any other hero who joins his crusade — no matter the cost.
To prove his determination, he uses a Thor clone to kill Goliath, builds a prison in the Negative Zone for any unregistered hero and uses a guilt trip to trick Spider-man into unmasking on national television to show support for the registration act — only to attack him when he decides he’s on the wrong side.
Marvel is going to have a hard time redeeming this one-time hero.
They also give nods to Best Writer (Ed Brubaker), Best Artist (J.H. Williams III), Best Hero (Spider-Man), and a bunch of others.

well villains, at their base core, are characters that believe they are doing the right thing in their mind yet go about achieving their goals in the wrong way. Magento, Dr Doom, Luthor… all great villains in the same vein

Uh, I think it’s exactly what Marvel had in mind…
Does anyone seriously believe the official line that Marvel editorial feels they’re portraying both sides equally?
