Can't Wait For Wednesday!

All right, so typically this is the part where I’d tell you about all the nifty books coming out tomorrow at a local comic shop near you. The problem is, I’m not exactly sure what books are going to be coming out at a local comic shop near you. If you live in Cincinnati, Austin, Boston, Atlanta, Hershey or anywhere else not on the freakin’ West Coast, you’re golden … you can check out the Diamond shipping lists and do the comic book happy dance. Those of us out west? We’re apparently screwed.

Oh well. Chances are our weather is better than yours … heck, chances are our weather is always better than yours. Except maybe Florida. They have it all.

So, in lieu of my usual bit, I thought I’d share the exchange this week between Lisa Fortuner and Tom Bondurant about Lisa’s pick of the week. I emailed the group this week asking for submissions, and here’s how things went:

JK: Please send me your pick of the week!

Lisa: You have to even ask on a week with All-Star Superman coming out?

Tom: Well, Manhunter #27 is also shipping …

Lisa: It’s good, but its like a block of jello placed next to chocolate mousse when coming out the same day as All-Star Superman #6.

Tom: But … there’s always room for Jell-O!

They’ll be here all week, folks. Try the veal.

Now that we know where Lisa’s tastes are, let’s here from the rest of the group …

All-Star Superman #6

Graeme McMillan’s Pick of the Week

Ah, Civil War… Just one of the comics denied me by my very geography. Luckily, this seems to be the week DC isn’t hit by Diamond delays, which means that I can justifiably be torn between the retro-superthrills of All-Star Superman #6 and the promising new Vertigo title Scalped without fear of disappointment. Or, at least, disappointment from those delivering.

Michael May’s Pick of the Week

The cool kid in me says Punisher War Journal #2, but my inner comics nerd is screaming loudly for Civil War #6. I’m more looking forward to Civil War, but expect to enjoy PWJ more, if that makes sense.

Tom Bondurant’s Pick of the Week

Gotta be All-Star Superman #6, with the death of All-Star Pa Kent. I’m also looking forward to Superman #658 (more fun in the apocalyptic future) and 52 #35 (the beginning of the end for Lex Luthor). I’m sensing a theme already, and I didn’t even mention Superman Confidential #3….

JK Parkin’s Pick of the Week

I’m totally on board for Scalped #1; Jason Aaron’s Other Side is awesome, and this sounds like a fun, unique series.

So what are you getting this week? Check out the Diamond shipping schedule and let us know.

Like May, although I’m excited for other books, (if I get it) Civil War will be inevitably read first. But aside from that:

    All-Star Superman #6 (so excited)
    newuniversal #2
    Scalped #1
    Powers #22

    JR

    Boy, that’s a hard one… All-Star Superman #6
