The Melbourne, Australia, Herald Sun chats with My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, with talk turning briefly to comics and his upcoming series The Umbrella Academy:
Will you feel more vulnerable putting a comic book out than you do with the music?
I think so (laughs). Whether I like it or not, I’m gonna really take it to heart if it’s not received well, ‘cos it’s kinda like a secret dream.
Does the secret dream lead from a comic book to cartoons, a movie, merchandising…?
I dunno. That stuff doesn’t appeal to me. But to be honest with you, if there were action figures made of it, that’s exciting for me to have them on my shelf.
The Umbrella Academy, by Way and Gabriel Ba, will be released by Dark Horse next year.

I`m so happy!!! For me to read something written by Gerard is like being one step closer to him. He is parte of MCR so… if I like the band (which I do) the book is goin´ to be really interesting!

one quick question…do you actually read these…if you do that is pretty awesome…and me like all these other people, i am fully behind you and i really think that it is cool that you can make your dream become real to you and for others to read and see that dream come true…i know that all of your fans will be behind you in anything you do…i kinda sound like an inspiration thing or well i don’t know what you call it but yeah sorry for that!

Gerard your a big inspiration to everyone, including me. Your lifes been tough but youve come out on top and most people look up to you. Honestly iv never really read comic books to see if i like them but you put a ton of passion into everthing you do so i kno it will be great and i will buy it as soon as i can. If their was one thing i could ask of u it would be to stop smoking cuz i dont want anything to happen to ur voice and i dont hav grandparents or a special grandma lik u had thanx to lung cancer. Just consider what im saying. NO matter what you do i will always look up to you.
