For the first time an American Library Association “Read” poster to promote literacy among teens will feature a manga character. You Higori created exclusive art for the poster of her Cesare Borgia character from Go! Comi’s Cantarella series.

ALA has had a number of comics-related posters in recent years: a beautiful Morpheus poster, a photo poster of Neil Gaiman, a Gene Ha Batgirl poster (oh yeah!), an Alex Ross Batman poster, a DC Comics heroes poster that spawned many a comics trivia contest in libraries all over the country … this poster by You Higuri (note the correct spelling here) is a first in that it’s a manga poster, and also that Higuri-sensei hand-colored it.
Anyone can order the poster, you don’t have to be a library or librarian to do so. Go to ALA’s website, http://www.ala.org and click on the link to the ALA Store, then click on the link for READ posters.
When I worked in public libraries, we purchased lots of the ALA posters to decorate the walls in our buildings. I have also bought a number of the posters for display in my own home.
