Pullman on the pull-list?

December 12th, 2006
Author Graeme McMillan

God damn Rich Johnston and his last minute updating. But if true, this could be very interesting indeed, as he reports on…

…a new UK weekly anthology.

Including a new strip by “His Dark Materials” best-selling author, Philip Pullman.

Pullman has long expressed his love of comics, and seemed a natural choice to be snapped by the likes of Marvel and DC. Looks like he’s found his own — very British — solution instead.

I’ve not read any Pullman, but I know that the Dark Materials trilogy was a pretty big deal in the publishing world…

He created a real rich world in HDM. I wouldn’t mind seeing some revisiting of it in a comic book form.

That said, I have no idea how the movie will fly considering that the Church is the enemy and the world is saved by underage sex.

  2. Rich Johnston Says:

READ His Dark Materials. No seriously. It’s the atheist Narnia. It’s Harry Potter for adults that tricks kids into reading it. It is sensational. Don’t let 2006 go by without reading the first book. NOW.

  3. Parker Says:

Read Pullman and your life will just be somehow better!

  4. Patrick Says:

His Dark Materials is indeed very good. It had a powerful effect on me when I first read it, which was in eighth grade at the age of 14.

There’s also a big movie coming out soon, so Pullman’s visibility is going to be pretty high. Cool news for comics, at any rate.
