Batman and Robin, last-minute shoppers

December 8th, 2006

Ah, the joys of YouTube. Someone’s dug up a rarely seen ’80s artifact: A campy Christmas commercial for Zayre department stores starring Batman and Robin.

From what little I can find about it, I think this TV ad was the subject of an unsuccessful lawsuit by Adam West. Although Zayre licensed the characters from DC Comics, West claimed the spot violated his right to publicity by cashing in on his television performance as the Caped Crusader. West lost the suit in January 1990.

If anyone has more details, or corrections to what little I could dig up, please let me know.
