Just Loki-in’.

The Bendis Board follows up on a curious Civil War-related solicitation:

“lying in the gutters civil war item…. it’s just a rumor column. but an apparently legit listing for a civil war era spidey t-shirt namedrops a big marvel universe player.”

“Didn’t Oeming kill him?”

“There’s no way it could be Loki, seeing as how Millar’s doing the exact same thing over in the Ultimates 2. Unless…. unless…. they’re going to cross over!”

“I knew Bendis loved Byrne’s work on West Coast Avengers, but would that lead this mini resulting in Acts of Vengeance 2?”

“I don’t understand what the implication here is. It’s a Spider-Man Loki T-shirt? Do people think Spidey becomes Loki? I honestly don’t get it. If it’s just a shirt featuring Spidey AND Loki, it’s probably just that JRJR shot of the two of them eating hot dogs (the food, not penises) on the side of a building in NYC.”

“Maybe Loki pulls Chaos magic so Peter goes back to being Not known to the public?!!”

“Having Loki magically change Spidey’s status quo would be a really stupid move. Major changes in Spidey’s life should have nothing to do with magic or time travel loops or any crap like that. The clones are fine because they’re science fiction.”

“Loki. Trickster God. Agent of Chaos. Purveyor of mischief and random destruction. And now we have heroes acting OOC and beating the [word that rhymes with "bit"] out of each other. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this all along.”

    Hmm… Doesn’t Loki owe Spider-Man a favor?

  2. Andrew Wickliffe Says:

    1) I thought this was already debunked as a typo… maybe even at this blog.

    2) If Millar is just recycling, it’s not the first time (Marvel Knights Spider-Man ==> Wanted) and is no surprise.

  3. Matthew Craig Says:

hot dogs (the food, not penises)

How many of each would you have to buy every day in order to need to make the distinction?

    Also: Cloki.

  4. Matt M. Says:

Sometimes a penis is just a penis.

  5. Palladin Says:

Yeah, Loki does owe Spidey a favor, but remember that the favors always come with a twist, it is Loki afterall. I think Loki even warned Spidey of this fact.

  6. Hellhound Says:

Maybe Loki makes it so that no one ever found out that Peter was Spider-man including MJ. This would lead to her never marrying Peter and solve the how to get rid of MJ without making Peter a widower or divorcee conundrum that Quesada is always bitching about.

  7. Tim O'Shea Says:

Maybe Loki goes back in time and turns Uncle Ben into the Hulk and totally retcons Avengers history and eliminates Spidey completely!

  8. David Horenstein Says:

Loki mindwiping everyone would still be a cheap cop-out. Mary Jane married Peter Parker, the legal document has absolutely nothing to do with Spider-Man. Even if she forgets, they’d still be married. Even if somehow the government forgets they got married, they’d still be married since the marriage occurred. But, considering how utterly stupid the entire basis for Civil War is, actual knowlege of how laws work aren’t required.

    But, Marvel’s the “realistic” universe.

It’s obvious that they are going to mindwipe everyone, since Peter Parker couldn’t exist without government protection.

But, there is no reset button.

Of course, it still hasn’t been explained why a hero who registered and openly stated he would work with Shield is now an enemy of the government.

Oh wait, that’s right, to understand Omac Project #3, you have to read Punisher #37.

BTW, that Loki manipulating “everyone” would not only be one of the worst ideas ever, since it would come out of nowhere. But, it would make Civil War an even bigger rip-off of “Legends” then it already is.

Comparisons between Planet Hulk and the Roger Stern Superman: War World epic have been made. Ditto Civil War and Legends.

That big 37 issue epic? Millennium. Several beings will disover that they will advance the human race, but a bunch of robots will attempt to stop them.

After that, you can expect Mark to jump to DC where he’ll bring his greatest epic yet. An otherworldly being with the power of God, grabs several heroes and villains and puts them on a world he created and has good battle evil, the winner gets to eliminate the other.

I would like it if Loki made me forget about Civil War!

Maybe they are just putting a CW tag to the Spidey/Loki T-Shirt to help sell more of them? It is Wizard afterall…

No way CW is a result of Loki…Too similar to Ultimates…I hope.

I think the Iron Man we have been seeing is a dupe, not the real one. The real IM is being held prisoner somewhere. I hope.

There is more to this Miriam Sharpe woman too. There is a villain behind the scenes manipulating all of this.

Could it be Hydra? Gotten a lot of play in Captain America, NA and ASM…Either way, it will be someone who makes sense (perhaps the mystery figure who hired Electro to break out the Raft inmates) or totally out of left field.

I’m just hoping it makes sense in the end.

  11. Tuckenie Says:

Oh forget it already. Like anyone in comics would really be so cruel to a character as to have EVERYONE forget his identity including his wife in a deus ex machina moment. Can you imagine how lame it would be to have the identity thing solved in a Flash? The Spectre of them having Loki do that would haunt them for years. It’s probably just the hotdog picture.
