Variety reports that Warner Bros. has hired fledgling screenwriter Gary Dauberman to work with director Guillermo del Toro on the script to Deadman, the film adaptation of the 40-year-old DC Comics property.
How “fledgling”? Dauberman doesn’t even have an IMDB entry!
No matter, it seems. According to Variety, he impressed Deadman producers del Toro, Don Murphy and Susan Montford with a spec script he’d written for a Western zombie film.
Deadman, which was announced in July, is set to be a contemporary take on the story on the spirit of murdered circus acrobat Boston Brand who’s given the ability to possess the living in order to find his killer. The character was created in 1967 by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino.

Hmmm… If Del Toro likes him, well, I guess it’s ok. Let me correct that: I hope it’s ok.

I wish in the comics they’d stuck with the traditional Deadman instead of the current Vertigo one… there’s nothing wrong with the old Deadman.
