The Fantasticar — Ram-tough?

On Thursday, 20th Century Fox rolled out the first look at the Fantasticar from Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer to much oohing and ahing. (To be fair, at least some of the ahing was directed at Jessica Alba and Chris Evans. The oohing, though, was mostly over the vehicle.)

But over the weekend, I saw someone on a message board point to what he swore was the Dodge “ram” emblem on the seats. Nonsense, I thought; they’re part of the seatbelts. Or something.

Oh, they’re something all right: Rediff reports that Dodge shelled out $1 million to have its name on the fabled Fantasticar. In the graphic above, swiped from Rediff, you can see the Dodge name and logo on the front of Reed Richards’ speedster.

I’m no purist, but I’ll be curious to see how Dodge works its way into the origin and evolution of the Fantasticar. Does Mr. Fantastic require technology that only The Chrysler Group has? Did he give in to Johnny Storm, who contends Ford stands for “Found On Road Dead”?
