Over at Scans Daily, someone has shown that Greg Land doesn’t just like photo reference, he likes the same photo reference:
A recent post with Kitty and Sue’s identical eyes reminded me just how much I hate Greg Land. While browsing scans daily recently, I stopped a couple of times and thought to myself… hunh. Don’t I know that picture?
Sure I do! Apparently, Jean Gray and Black Canary are sisters!

One thing that’s ludicrous about Land’s art is the juxtaposition of the women (models, actresses, and porn stars) against the plainer men or for that matter werewolves. He would get over better if he didn’t have to draw anything other than women.

The planned Sports Illustrated Werewolf Issue should fix that, no problem.

Well, I still like the more realistic work. Some artwork to me just looks like running a pencil up and down ( Jae Lee ) but each person has there own tastes. I am one to purchase a Greg Land book more then others for artwork. And he does an average art speed. But it might be hard to expect masterpieces from him each time.

Who wants masterpieces? I think most people would settle for honest art from Greg Land.

Wow. Another Greg Land bashing.
Do the DC freaks really enjoy Bart Sears’ work, or can they just not handle a talented artist working for the competition?
Land is a fantastic ARTIST, I pick up everything he works on, and I’d love to work with him one day

My disdain for Land’s “artwork” has nothing to do with which company he works for. He’s not an ARTIST, he’s a PLAGIARIST.

It’s not so much the swiping or the sexism in Land’s art, it’s that he simply isn’t very good. Nine times out of ten his characters are stiff, lifeless, posing instead of “moving”.
