JLA‘s Brad Meltzer’s hosting a dinner party to help raise funds for literacy in Florida. Tracey Van Hook with the Volunteer Florida Foundation dropped us a note about the auction, currently up on eBay and ending Sunday.
“We host a fundraiser every year featuring guest authors,” Van Hook said. “He was a speaker in past years. He was so outgoing and dynamic. We kept in touch. He likes our literacy programs throughout the state and has seen what we do first hand.”
Last night the bidding was up to $1,000. Other authors will be up for bid in the future, including Carl Hiassen and Robin Cook.

Reminder yet again why we should separate a opinion of the work from the person. Identity Clusterbleep annoyed me, but I admire the hell out of Meltzer for using his celebrity status in this productive manner.
