Sales skyrocket for Miller’s 300 graphic novel

Retailer website ICv2 reports that although the film adaptation of Frank Miller’s 300 doesn’t premiere until Feb. 5, Dark Horse has already received orders for 40,000 copies of the graphic novel through the book market.

Impressive, right? Now compare that figure to the reported 88,000 or so copies of 300 that Dark Horse has sold since 1999.

ICv2 notes the difficulties the publisher had last year meeting demands for the Sin City books, but points to a “very aggressive” schedule that will supply a 40,000-copy 10th printing later this month, followed by an 11th printing set for January/February.
