Glasgow’s Daily Record discovers that My Chemical Romance frontman, and comics writer, Gerard Way had just one goal while he was in Scotland: to meet his hero, Grant Morrison.
“He is probably my favourite writer,” Way told the newspaper. “That guy has more ideas in his pinky than most people do in a lifetime, and he doesn’t mind tossing all of them into just one issue.
“His run on Doom Patrol and Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums were two of my biggest influences, along with my experience of being in a rock band on the road.”
Way reveals that he met with Morrison and his wife Kristan for lunch at Glasgow’s Club 29.
According to the Daily Mail, Kristan said that after her husband finishes with the movie adaptation of We3, there’s the possibility of a collaboration between the two creators.
The Umbrella Academy, Way’s debut comic series with artist Gabriel Ba, is due next year from Dark Horse.
