Platinum Studios has announced the hiring of Jim McLauchlin as editor-in-chief of the company’s Print and Online Comic Book Division. McLauchlin resigned in March as editor-in-chief of Top Cow Productions, where he worked for more than three years.
“Jim brings a wealth of experience writing and editing comics to the already strong team at Platinum Studios,” Brian Altounian, president and chief operating officer of Platinum, said in the press release. “Working with the editor of titles such as Witchblade, The Darkness, Wanted, Down, Common Grounds and Hunter-Killer has given us a valuable well of knowledge to draw upon in our upcoming phase of comic production.”
The press release also announces the relocation of Platinum’s offices to 11400 W. Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Yesterday it was announced Top Cow’s Freshmen has launched as a webcomic on Platinum’s DrunkDuck.com site, rerunning the first miniseries.

Wonder if Jim will be in Scott Rosenberg’s annual holiday comic/card. Maybe he’s even drawing it!
