Seeing Jeff Smith’s Shazam: The Monster Society of Evil #1 among DC’s (sneak peek) solicitations for February makes me very, very happy. Very. After a wait of more than four years, calling the miniseries “much-anticipated” might be a bit of an understatement, though.

Hooray!
Maybe this will erase the stench of Trials of Shazam from my consciousness.

I can’t believe it’s finally coming out…

I like the idea that they wait until the whole thing is finished before soliciting the first issue.

I suppose it would be childish for everyone to buy two copies and send one of them to Judd Winick’s house.

Just in time, now that the “real” Captain Marvel is altered almost beyond recognition. Great timing, DC….as always.

I wish that DC would reprint the original Monster Society of Evil storyline as a hardcover. Some smaller company had the rights to the story and reprinted it well over a decade ago in B&W as a hundred dollar HC. Hopefully, the rights have reverted to DC again. Would love to read the original in one large color collection.

Here’s da thing. If DC can successfully market this to a fraction of the Scholastic readership who’ve been exposed to Bone, we all know Winick’s take on Billy and co. will be quickly forgotten. Me? I still miss Ordway’s Shazam.
