Not your typical Heroes complaint.

November 9th, 2006
Author Lisa Fortuner

Though Beau Smith gives the show a generally good review, he admits there’s problems:

The moments I’m talking about are how the cheerleader character is so clumsy that when she isn’t testing her self healing powers on purpose she is the clumsiest person in the world and is always “getting killed” one way or another. Come on, cheerleaders today are really good athletes, nobody is this much of a klutz.

    He’s actually got a good point there…

  2. Kenny Says:

Although, if nothing could hurt you, maybe your body wouldn’t be inclined to not be clumsy.

    Did that make sense?

  3. Barry Says:

I could barely read that article. I know it’s a fansite, but could someone PLEASE copy edit this guy’s writing?

  4. Morrison Says:

Yeah, she is pretty clumsy with the small injuries. That’s a good point…

  5. David Horenstein Says:

That is a good point. I understand why they are doing it though, as they want newcomers to immediately realize what her powers are. But, they have to come up with more realistic situations for her, otherise fans could grow tire of it.

I like the show a lot, my only problem is that they didn’t bother adding any real life physics to it. Wouldn’t they need to consume more calories to do these fantastic abilities? It’s less about science and more about fantasy, which would be fine, but this show attempts to take place in the real world.

    George Bush is.

Please don’t get me wrong, I truly enjoy HEROES. The comment about the Cheerleader being clumsy was just an observation. By no means is it a make or break thing. (No pun intended)

I realize that as story tellers they wanted to get the point across about her power. I also realize that unlike me, they repeated it a lot for new and first time viewers. Something we need to keep in mind with comics.

As far as the copy editing….I’m sorry some of the stuff slipped through the proof reading cracks. It wasn’t done to upset you.

    Thanks!

    Beau

My wife and I have a running joke — whenever she gets hurt, we sing a little jingle: “It’s Claire — the world’s clumsiest cheerleader!”

  9. Tuckenie Says:

So maybe they have to save the cheerleader from herself. Wouldn’t it suck if the whole world knew you as “the Cheerleader”?
