Thanks! Y'know, I almost mentioned Mystique #21, but then I convinced myself that it was a nod to the "chessboard intro" from The Avengers TV series. Of course, the Steranko cover may have been referencing that, too.

Cool article. I love those Steranko covers. Mystique #21 is another cover that seems to have a Steranko influence.

Good article, although I’m 99% sure that the She-Hulk cover is by Greg Horn, not Greg Land.
