Justice League Heroes released today

Warner Bros. Interactive releases Justice League Heroes today, and to help promote it, they’ve also launched a comic book podcast on iTunes. The comics feature the JLA attempting to protect Gotham from Brainiac’s robo-zombies and serve as a prequel to the game’s storyline. Probably the easiest way to find it is to do a search in the iTunes store for “Justice League.”

I’ve been blogging about the game for a few months now, so it’ll be nice to finally see it in action. Here’s a list of some game facts …

–Playable characters: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern John Stewart. During the game, players can also unlock Huntress, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Hawkgirl, Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner. Hal and Kyle use their rings in their own unique ways, rather than being simply copies of John Stewart.
–Players can also unlock different costumes for some of the heroes, like J’onn’s alien form, Batman Beyond and Zatanna with that bug thing on her head. Why you’d want to see her dressed like that as opposed to the fishnets, though, is beyond me.
–Villains include Brianiac, Gorilla Grodd, Queen Bee, The Key, Killer Frost and Doomsday.
–Comic and animation writer Dwayne McDuffie wrote the story. The voice talent for the game includes Ron Perlman (Hellboy) as Batman, Michael Jai White (Spawn) as John Stewart, Crispin Freeman (Kingdom Hearts II) as Superman and Ralph Garman (Family Guy,The Joe Schmo Show) as Green Arrow.
–The character play, per WBI, is unique to each hero. Depending on what type of game you choose (Team or Solo mission) the locations may change. A Superman game may have you spending a lot of time in Metropolis while a JL team game may have you in space at the Justic League HQ, The Watchtower. J’onn J’onz’s homeland of Mars, Gotham City and Gorilla City are all featured in the game.
–The Justice League Heroes videogame is now available on the PlayStation and Xbox. The PSP version based on the console game will be available in November. The gave will also be available for the Nintendo DS system as well as a variation of the game featuring The Flash for the Game Boy Advance system.

No doubt reviews have already started popping up around the ‘net; Metacritic will have a nice list of them if you’d like to hear what people think before shelling out your hard-earned cash.

Because some of us prefer Perez’s bug to the fishnets. I’ve never been a fan of that look for Z. Actually, the fishnets are fine - it’s just the tux jacket and top hat I’ve always hated.
