I thought Broken Frontier’s multi-part interview with writer Brian Azzarello had wrapped up on Friday, but the website sneaks in the fourth installment today. The final segment focuses on Azzarello’s backup series with Cliff Chiang in DC’s Tales of the Unexpected, and his upcoming Joker miniseries with Lex Luthor: Man of Steel collaborator Lee Bermejo.

Somehow I missed earlier mention of the Joker mini, but the thought of five issues of an Azzarello-penned Clown Prince of Crime has me a little excited.

“Writing Lex was like writing my diary,” Azzarello says in the interview. “I agreed with everything that guy stood for. Now, with the Joker, it’s stuff I wouldn’t even dare put in my diary!”

He concludes the Q&A by dashing any hopes fans might have of his return for another Cage series for Marvel: “To be honest, the Luke Cage that exists right now is one that I have no interest in writing.”

I’m kind of disappointed that we won’t be seeing any more CAGE. The Azz/Corben mini was a great one.

If it’s even half as good as Luthor, this should be a must have.
