Broken Frontier has been carrying some particularly good creator interviews lately. Among my recent favorites is this three-part Q&A with writer Brian Azzarello covering his Vertigo Western Loveless, his upcoming take on Deathblow, and his epic crime series 100 Bullets.
I’m a big fan of 100 Bullets, so I’ll quote from that part, where Azzarello discusses his influences, his characters, and collaborator Eduardo Risso:
“He is easily one of, if not THE, best storyteller working in comics today. For a book like 100 Bullets a real strong storyteller is needed. Like you said, there is a lot of subtext in the book, and that has to come through in the way it looks and with people’s expressions and he does that wonderfully.”

Being a native northside chicagoan I noticed when I opened to page 6 of 6 feet under the gun that the handwriting on the bar window of the “green mill” on lawrence and broadway is actually the way the window looks from inside the bar as well as the street. Also the inside of the bar as depicted is actually how the bar curves around inside. I used to live on lawrence and beacon back in the 70′s and been in the green mill more than a few times
