Last week’s unveiling of the Ghost Rider movie poster didn’t exactly set the world on fire. And, really, it shouldn’t have: It used the generic “Action Hero Fights to Save Woman He Loves” design template we see roughly 73 times a year (giant, wistful disembodied heads floating above action and/or emotional shot).
Fans mostly moaned, groaned or shrugged, which may — or may not — have triggered the release of two new posters that focus on the flaming skull and the, um, flaming motorcycle.
But, as FirstShowing.net points out, there’s some question as to whether these are even from Sony. The movie’s logo is missing, and the headline font looks as if it came from the cover of a political thriller — which makes me think these may be wishful thinking on the part of a Photoshop-proficient fan.
Whatever the case, they’re better than the other one.
Update: Last week on the Superhero Hype message board, Ghost Rider director Mark Steven Johnson promised “new images soon,” including “hardcore skull shots.” So make of that what you will.

“Is coming” is the perfect way to get 16 year-olds to not giggle every time they see the posters.

Much better. But this reminds me that even though I think the bike is cool I don’t really LIKE it like I thought I would. I guess I’ll have to wait for the movie.

Not bad. The bike shouldn’t smoke though. Sends a bad message to easily influenced children.

Okay, now those are cooler posters!
