Interview with Ethan Van Sciver

October 3rd, 2006

Our buddy Jamie Colville dropped us a note to let us know that the latest edition of Colville’s Clubhouse is up, this month featuring an interview with Ethan Van Sciver. He talks a lot about CyberFrog, Barry Allen, breaking in at DC and the darker side of fandom:

Jamie: You mentioned in the back of one of your comics a woman sent you a naked picture of herself?

Ethan: Yeah.

Jamie: That really happened?

Ethan: Yeah, it was really weird. Some woman sent me a polaroid of her, spread eagle on her bed with a stuffed frog covering her special area. It was upsetting, she wasn’t attractive, she was just a very strange looking woman.

Jamie: That still happen to you now?

Ethan: No. When I was doing Cyberfrog I would give people my mailing address and request fan mail and I would get it. Nowadays I would never do that. I’ve got a wife and a son and I don’t want everybody to know where I live.

Ethan notes he’ll be drawing more Green Lantern in the future. “The main thing is to go work with Geoff,” he said. “Big stuff is right around the corner.”

It’s called a POST OFFICE BOX, Ethan. Also, were you upset because she wasn’t attractive?
