Heroes premiere performs well

Variety is reporting that last night’s debut of Heroes performed very well for NBC:

NBC drama “Heroes” opened to strong numbers on Monday, dominating its broadcast rivals and looking like the first breakout performer of the fall season. The Peacock captured the night in 18-49, with CBS on top in 25-54 and total viewers.

According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, “Heroes” (5.9 rating/11 share in adults 18-49, 14.3 million viewers overall) topped CBS’ second-place comedy block of “Two and a Half Men” (5/12 in 18-49, 15.7 million viewers overall) and “Old Christine” (4/10, 12.6 million viewers overall) by a hefty 31% in adults 18-49 and also led in total viewers. This is the best fall premiere for an NBC drama since “Crossing Jordan” five years ago.

With the advent of DVR machines, especially with the Cable companies jumping on that bandwagon, I wonder if they take into account recording shows to watch at a later date.

The episode I watched last night was significantly different than the pilot I saw via BitTorrent earlier this month. Spoilers obfuscated: For instance, the painter did not cut off his hand (replaced with an overdose), the brainiac child did not take money from his sitter’s wallet, and the last 10 seconds (immediately after the brotherly embrace) of last night’s episode were new.

Shane, DVR viewers (in Nielsen’s system) get counted if they watch the show within seven days. The problem, tho, is that advertisers (who the ratings are really about, since those numbers determine how much advertisers pay for a show) don’t want to base rates on the “live plus seven” numbers since they don’t believe DVR users watch commercials (as opposed to people who go to the bathroom during the commercial break… yes that was sarcasm).

Further good news, according to Media Life Magazine, the show’s audience grew 13% from the first half-hour to the second, a good sign suggesting that the people who checked it out liked the show and are likely to come back for more.

There is clearly a lot to understand about this. I believe you made some great factors in Attributes also.
