Dark Horse brings us a menagerie this week that includes a sock monkey and a chickenhare, Tom Beland brings romance to Image and Marvel gets its MAX undead groove on with Zombie. Yep, ladies and gents, that means it is once again time for Can’t Wait for Wednesday! While fans are still shaking their heads over last week’s Civil War (Clor — It’s What’s for Breakfast! Clor — The Other White Meat!), let’s hear from the Blog@ gang on this coming Wednesday’s comics …
Chris Hunter’s Pick of the Week
Without a doubt, it’s The Ultimates #12. Millar and Hitch have done it again (both in terms of a great story and taking forever to complete it) and I’m anxiously awaiting the conclusion of this volume to see what’s being set up for Loeb and MAD in Vol. 3.
Tom Bondurant’s Pick of the Week
I was so, so tempted to pick the Infinite Crisis novelization, or Snakes On A Plane #2, but (sigh) it looks like I’ll settle for Batman and the Mad Monk #2. I really liked Matt Wagner’s Batman and the Monster Men, and issue #1 of Mad Monk was even better. Both miniseries have adapted familiar Golden Age stories for the modern (actually, Year One) era without sucking all that old-timey “Batman versus monsters” charm out of them. Now Wagner, following in the footsteps of Gardner Fox, pits Batman against werewolves and vampires, and it looks to be just as scary and just as fun.
Carla Hewitt’s Pick of the Week
Hands down, best picks of the week are Cable/Deadpool and Captain America. This is what Civil War #4 should have been, as both debate the real issue at the heart of the matter while keeping characterization consistent. And hey! Cap *smiles* in optimism about doing the right thing! Been a long time since he’s done that.
Lisa Fortuner’s Pick of the Week
Batman #627 and She-Hulk #12 are the best picks, overall, but this is a weird week. I’m actually seeing more Marvel books I’d like than DC books.
Agree? Disagree? Think we’re off our rocker? Check out the Diamond shipping list, then school us with your own pick.

It’s Batman, Captain America, and Daredevil as my top three, with Panther and Loveless rounding out the top five. Honorable mentions: Eternals, Heroes for Hire, X-Men, and Spidey Loves MJ.
It’s going to be a good week. Lot of good books.

The only Big Two title I even care about this week is Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane #10. My personal picks this week are Elephantmen #3, Lions Tigers & Bears Vol. 2 #3, True Story Swear to God #1 (all from Image), Sock Monkey: The Inches Incident #1 from Dark Horse and CSI: Dying in the Gutters #2 from IDW. I’m also picking up the super-cool manga Line from ADV Manga.

This week is easily one of the best of the year, comic wise. Batman, Batman and The Mad Monk, Jack of Fables, JLA, LoSH, Titans, Invincible, C&D, Captain America, Daredevil, Eternals, Punisher, Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, USM, Ultimates.
My picks would have to be Mad Monk, USM 100 and Invincible.
