This week the Goon goes noir, Wetworks are back in business and the Mindless Ones get funky … that’s right, it’s time once again for Can’t Wait for Wednesday!
This week Dark Horse brings us Kurt Busiek’s last issue of Conan, featuring another look at young Conan. Over at Image, Walking Dead comes with a bonus bit of Rock Bottom, while DC offers up the first (?) solo title for Krypto. Or maybe not … I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
It’s Marvel, though, that seems to be kicking it up a notch this week, as they bring us not only a brand new Blade series and the next issue of Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men, but also the book we never thought we’d see … Civil War #4! OK, maybe it isn’t quite Spider-Man/Black Cat, Daredevil:Father or even the last issue of Camelot 3000 … but hey, at least it’s out now.
Now on to the Blog@ Brigade … you know the drill:
Lisa Fortuner’s Pick of the Week
Looks like it’s just Birds of Prey, Catwoman and 52 for me this week.
Graeme McMillan’s Pick of the Week
It’s a weird week, with a few books coming out that I’m interested in for reasons that are kind of cynical: Will Civil War #4 live up to the pressure of the delays? What are the changes that were announced for the Infinite Crisis hardcover? But my pick of what I’d want to actually read is X-Men: First Class #1. As unsold as I am by Marvel’s retellings of their beginnings (The recent Mythos: Hulk, for example), writer Jeff Parker has impressed me enough with his Agents of Atlas miniseries that I’m very curious to see what he can do with the first family of mutants…
Tom Bondurant’s Pick of the Week
I was going with Superman #656, and then I saw Nextwave #8 on the schedule … and then I decided to stick with Superman. Nextwave is always great fun, and that should give you an idea of how much I like Kurt Busiek and Carlos Pacheco’s reinvigorating work on the Man of Steel. Ironically, this month’s issue looks to be a lot of fighting and ‘splosions, not unlike a typical Nextwave….
Carla Hewitt’s Pick of the Week
Finally, I remember to get one of these in! I hope I’m not too late to remind everyone that Nextwave continues to be genius and that Marvel Adventures: Avengers is probably the best book to read during lunch ever. The kind of book you’re supposed to roll up and put in your back pocket, take with you places, show friends, all that good stuff.
JK Parkin’s Pick of the Week
I’m having a hard time choosing between three comics, all of which are Marvel books — Nextwave, Runaways and Astonishing X-Men. While Astonishing has the Hellfire Club and I’m intrigued to know what Chase is up to, I have to go with Nextwave because of one thing and one thing only: Dancing Mindless Ones:
Check out the Diamond shipping list and let us know what your pick of the week is (Or just pick Nextwave and make it easy).

Yeah, the Dancine Mindless Ones is pretty much the bestest thing ever.
I’m also looking foward to Birds of Prey, 52, Superman and Runaways.
I agree with Graeme on X-Men: First Class. It would normally be a project I would pass over, except Jeff Parker’s writing has drawn me in. Though I’m still debating if I want to wait for the trade on this one.
And I see Carla has joined Comic Pants in recommending Marvel Adventures Avengers. I’ll definately have to pick up the digests of that book.

Hmmm, My pick of the week will be Civil War #4. Hope it was all worth waiting for. CThis is how Marvekl discibes it: A death! A funeral! A betrayal! And a team reborn as the war takes a deadly turn!
There has been a lot of speculating about the death and the betrayal in CW4 on various boards, so I’m curious if the majority is right. No speculations about the reborn team, though I’m very curious which team it will be.
Second and third picks are also a Marvel titles: Astonishing X-Men and Runaways. Guess it’s a Marvel week

Must be a Marvel week, cause I’m all in for Civil War. I hope this is the one that locks me in. The first two issues were ho-hum, but last issue was pretty good. And Steve McNiven is the new Todd McFarlane.
