Pixelsurgeon notes that Dark Horse Indie’s upcoming film, Splinter, is flooring critics with its “striking” title sequence, animated by director Jamieson Fry from illustrations by comic book artist Danijel Zezelj (Weird War Tales, Gangland, El Diablo).
Variety says Splinter “delivers more flash than fascination,” but asserts the film “may be remembered for its title sequence.”
You can watch the sequence here.

BUT…
The producers of Splinter originally contacted Rob Chiu or motion graphics firm The Ronin (http://www.theronin.co.uk/) to develop the credits.
They wanted to hire Chiu based on the stregth of his work on an animated short for Black Day For Freedom (http://blackdaytofreedom.org/issue1/trailer.asp).
The Splinter team later dropped Chiu citing lack of funds. Then the sequence they end up with, created by the Film’s editor I believe, bears an uncanny resemblance to Chiu’s work.
Hmmm. Can you say rip off?

“Credits where credits are due” is quite a prophetic title for this post, now that I think about it
