It’s not just the New Warriors and whoever dies in Civil War #4, whenever it ships - Marvel’s Civil War has claimed another victim. It all starts when Gail Simone demands the return of her all-ages creation:
How can you even CONSIDER having a bigass crossover at Marvel without Peter Parker’s IN CONTINUITY COUSIN Gus Beezer?
Which side would he be on? How would he relate to Venom? What’s the deal with his hair? Which side is his hair on? How would his hair react to finding out his cousin is SPIDEY?
Seriously, I think this is very very wrong, that Gus isn’t included. His fan is furious, I kid you not.
Millar responds:
Tragically, poor Gus was attending the school blown up in the opening scene…
A minute of mourning, please, for the character whose position as a kid-friendly comedy book that could introduce new readers to mainstream Marvel heroes was taken by Power Pack and Franklin Richards.

Gus did all right for himself. Target did a collection that I’m told sold extremely well and I regularly hear from fans of the kid.
I like to think he survived, and he’s out there somewhere eating pudding and reading the latest Civil War.

Gail, I’m sorry, but if he’s not dead, the Sublime has already poisoned his mind. Like Tony Stark.
