The art of the postcard

Chris Ware's postcard

Digit points to the website of comics fan Jeremy Vincent Adolphson, who sends blank postcards to his favorite artists and asks them to draw something. His extensive online gallery features illustrations by the likes of Daniel Clowes, Will Eisner, Nick Cardy, Bill Sienkiewicz, Colleen Coover, FSc, Dylan Horrocks and, well, lots more. It’s an impressive five-year collection.

And speaking of postcards, Jason Rodriguez, co-editor of the upcoming Postcards anthology, wants to bring back that nearly lost form of communication. So he’s asking for people to send him postcards. Particularly interesting or eye-catching ones may be featured on the anthology’s MySpace page, or in the book itself (due in July 2007).

More information, including Rodriguez’s mailing address, can be found on the anthology’s MySpace blog.

One Response to “The art of the postcard”
  1. Jason Rodriguez Says:

For clarification, it’d be in future volumes of the book - volume one is in the can.

Occasionally creators in the book will respond to a postcard with some words or a sketch, though, so it ties in nicely to the first blurb.
