Dude! Why do you have such a hard-on for Millar? The guys a talented writer. So he goes off the deep end once in awhile, you do relize he's heavelly medicated. You need to move on.

Miller is worried about artists leaving the industry to do a 18 month contract in Hollywood? It already takes Miller 18 months to put our four issues of the Ultimates!

The only people interested in working in Hollywood instead of making comic books are people that comics is far, far better off without. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Someday, "man getting hit in a groin with football" will win an Academy Award. So much of the world has turned into the first few seasons of The Simpsons these days, why not?

Has no one told Mark Millar that the big studios are kind of in trouble, with diminishing box office returns and flattening DVD sales? The future of entertainment is apparently watching people getting hit in the groin with blunt objects on youtube. That seems to be what the kids like best these days.

The thing about hollywood is as a writer you have much less control over the finished product. Ask any movie who ever was responsible for writing a movie and you'll see how much they like seeing their work being mishandled. I would think that alone would be enough of a reason to make some comic book authors apprehensive about return trips to Hollywood.

He mentions Frank Miller and Sin City, but look at the story about how hard it was to convince Frank to make the movie in the first place after his bad experiences with Robocop.

And here's the funny thing, even if every good comic writer and artist ends up working for Hollywood, there's almost always going to be eager young kids willing to take over the reigns of their favorite book. Hell if Marvel ever gets really desperate I'll start writing Wolverine and I'll bring back Bloodscream, Albert And Elsie Dee, cause why not and I've always wondered what the hell happened to them.

Thanks, Dan. We all needed that, I'm sure.

I'll also reiterate for the folks reading along:

Got perspective?

'Cause it's totally easy to write a screenplay and get a bidding war going over it. Why, I did that twice today already. And it's barely past lunchtime!

The only problem with Mr. Millar's theory is that it would require a lot of physical work and discipline to write for Hollywood.

Chuck Dixon would be the best suited creator of comics to go Hollywood. Hell, he could write 52 BY HIMSELF! His discipline is amazing.

Comics wouldn't survive without Mark Millar's page-22. You know, the one-page spread where a character says something like, "This is gonna hurt" or "I don't think so, Spider-Man."

So, when Mark goes to Hollywood, yes - serialized comics as we know it will be destroyed because no-one can do a page-22 like him - we'll all be forced to make graphic novels and hope our page-96 can be as filling as Mark's page-22.
