With Eric Bana reportedly out of the running to play Bruce Banner in the second Hulk film, rumors on replacements are starting to surface. Cinematical reports on one such rumor circling Prison Break‘s Dominic Purcell (i.e. the slated-to-be-executed older brother to Wentworth Miller, who has the utility belt-like tattoos):
Anyway, rumors have been swirling as to who will take over for Eric Bana in the role. To date, folks like Brendan Fraser, Dominic Purcell and Adam Garcia have been mentioned as possibilities. Well, today Dominic Purcell was a guest on a local radio show here in New York and he was asked whether there was any truth to his involvement in the next Hulk flick. AICN has the actual audio from the interview, and based on his weird answer, it definitely sounds like he’s our guy. I imagine he’s currently in negotiations to star and can’t really get into it. Hey, I like the guy on Prison Break — he certainly has that quiet, intriguing, “What’s up with this guy?” persona. Good choice? Bad move? Thoughts?
A new season of Prison Break starts tonight on Fox, giving fans the opportunity to see Purcell in action.

All of the gusy mentioned for the role of Bruce Banner are way off.
Steve Buscemi is Bruce Banner, but he isn’t a GQ poster boy so that’s all she wrote for the best choice for the role.

I have to agree…Purcell is too big for Banner, really. Buscemi could be good in one angle on Banner…but I think Bana managed to be a decent pick originally.

I don’t think it really matters who they cast as Banner considering that the CGI Hulk will get the majority of the screen time.

He could play Bruce but it would be much more interesting if Fox had the sense to use him for another series of the classic John Doe.

Purcell is supposed to be skinnier than he looks in real life, but I just couldn’t see him as Banner, strangely enough I could see the dude as the hulk though
