ICv2.com reports that evangelical publisher Zondervan plans to enter the graphic-novel market next year with a line of digest-sized books released under its children’s imprint, Zonderkidz.
Zondervan, a division of HarperCollins, will launch the line in August 2007 with the release of 12 books — the first two volumes of six different titles. Among the initial releases will be a manwha Bible series.
The graphic novels, which Zondervan refers to as “manga” simply because of the digest format, will be sold in Christian bookstores, general bookstores and the direct market.
According to ICv2, Community Comics is serving as “managing editor” for the line, with Zondervan contracting with creators directly. Mike Miller of Alias is involved with several of the titles.
