Carved from stone

As announced at Wizard World Chicago, DC is releasing a Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman statue. It’s not due to hit stores until next April.

Update: some additional details from the DC press release …

The statue, modeled after and personally approved by Carter, was sculpted by the incomparable Tim Bruckner, and is hand-painted and made of cold-cast porcelain. Standing at 13.5 inches, the statue features a costume inspired by the 70s television series. Though DC Direct has made numerous Wonder Woman items, including action figures, statues and props, this is the first time that any have been based on Carter’s likeness or her television series.

Fantastic idea. They did justice to the body… but that face? I’m not sure it quite looks right, but I guess I’d have to see it in the stone to make a proper call.

I seem to remember reading that Carter herself approved, and I’d imagine she’d have a decent amount of input throughout the process.

Also, that seems to be the modern version of the TV costume, so a “Golden Age” paint variant wouldn’t be hard to do.

    The face does look accurate.

This would look great if she were posed another way and had a different expression, she just looks upset.

She’s thinking “Boy, that theme song gets annoying pretty quickly….”

It has higher defined muscles than Lynda´s in those days but that´s ok to me. About the costume, it´s the CBS version. Overall a very beatifull statue, I´ll buy it for sure but it would look even better to me if:

Brigther colors especially in the gold parts (on the picture it seems like bronze).

Bigger boobs, I mean Lynda´s size.

The face, excellent work on the eyes, and nose, but something is wrong, I think it´s the jaw which is a little wide. there´s undoubtly a minor problem with the expression, a smile or a sexy look (there are many pictures and posters on the net)would have been perfect. If this was a picture taken to a model I´d say they just did it one or two seconds earlier, she just have no time to pose properly.

Lynda Carter was ans still is absolutely gorgeous. She was a great Wonder Woman. This statue is really nice. Now if only they could find the right person to play Wonder Woman in a new movie. I hope they will ask Lynda Carter to play the Amazon Queen this time around…
