The Seattle Post-Intelligencer profiles Fantagraphics, chronicling its rise in the 1980s as a “little punk-rock publishing house” to its near-collapse in 2003 to its financial comeback, thanks in large part to the release of the complete Peanuts volumes.

The article also looks at Fantagraphics’ upcoming slate of collected works, which includes E.C. Segar’s Popeye and Walt Kelly’s Pogo.

“Peanuts” was a huge financial boon to Fantagraphics. The first volume was published in 2004, and it not only made it onto The New York Times’ best-seller list but has sold some 150,000 copies.”

I had no idea that it sold that well.
