The big, if not entirely unexpected, news from the first day of Wizard World Chicago is the return of Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch in New Avengers #26.
Come on, you knew they’d be back sooner or later.
“It’s them coming face to face after the events of House of M,” writer Brian Michael Bendis told Newsarama. “It’s where they’ve been since House of M, when they found his costume.”
The issue, titled “The Ballad of Clint Barton and Wanda Maximoff,” will be drawn by Alex Maleev.
Marvel also officially announced The Immortal Iron Fist ongoing series, written by Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction and penciled by David Aja. The first issue debuts in November.
The publisher’s other big fall lineup news was a five-issue Illuminati miniseries, written by Bendis and Brian Reed, with art by Jim Cheung. It, too, will premiere in November.
Meanwhile, at his spotlight panel, Brian Wood announced his two-year exclusive deal with DC Comics, and plans for a Viking ongoing series for Vertigo called Northlanders. It’s set for mid-2007 release.
