Obviously a refernce to the Dead Boy Detectives sequence from the first issue of Vertigo’s “Childrens Crusade.”

  2. Kevin Melrose Says:

Hm, no. I’ve never read Children’s Crusade.

  3. Bill Reed Says:

    I dig this strip. Muchly.

  4. Kevin Melrose Says:

    Thanks, Bill!

  5. Michelle Says:

The pop-up window won’t scroll down so I can read the last row and a half of panels.

Could you possibly change the configurations of your pop-up window?

So far I’m finding it funny, just a little difficult to read.

  6. Chris Hunter Says:

I’m having the same problem with the window.

  7. aaron Says:

Well, Kevin, whether or not you’ve ever read “Children’s Crusade” or not, I’d be pretty suprised if Stacie hasn’t. Both sequences have some pretty direct panel references to the first issue, not to mention the remarkably similar character designs.

  8. Kevin Melrose Says:

I don’t know, Aaron. Stacie and I have never discussed Children’s Crusade.

The characters were designed as rather wholesome (and even “generic”) 1930s to 1950s-style boy detectives/adventurers in the vein of the Hardy Boys, Tom Swift or Ted Scott.

  9. Kevin Melrose Says:

Thanks, Michelle. I can’t say that I know much about the technical/configuration stuff, but I’ve mentioned the problem to people who do. Hopefully we’ll get that fixed.

  10. Mistah Wade Says:

Great comic. The suspense is already killing me. I put a plug on my blog for it but since Stacie is pretty much my only reader, I may not boost your fan base much. Worth a shot though.

  11. Stacie Says:

Sorry Aaron, not only have I never read Children’s Crusade, I’ve never even heard of it until your mention. Couldn’t tell you the artist or writer.

Thanks very much for the kind words, everyone.

  12. aaron Says:

Thanks Stacie. My mistake. I’d recommend picking up the 1st issue of the Gaiman/Bachalo Vertigo miniseries, though, just to see the similarites.

All the same, I really like the strip so far!

  13. Dirk Manning Says:

    On. The. Hiney.

    “Hiney.”

There’s a word that’s not used NEARLY enough these days…

    Bravo! Keep on keepin’ on!!!

  14. Jamie Roberts Says:

    I love it!

I’ll be following this little gem all the way.

  15. Kevin Melrose Says:

    Thanks a lot!

  16. Stacie Ponder Says:

Kevin and I had to discuss the best word for ‘butt’…I’m glad the victorious ‘hiney’ is a crowd-pleaser!

Thanks so much everybody. Kevin’s done wrote up some good junk here!

  17. Tim O'Shea Says:

And yet, as enjoyable as this strip is, I am disturbed that everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room. How can stick figures even have a hiney? Or is that what makes Stick-O-Vision so great, adding meat to the stick characters of the story?
