When it comes to snatching up comic-book movies, Universal Pictures is on a roll.
Variety reports that the studio will finance and distribute Hellboy 2, which had been orphaned when Revolution Studios went out of business.
Guillermo del Toro will return to direct the sequel, which Universal has scheduled for release in summer 2008. Production starts in April in Budapest and London, Variety reports, with Ron Perlman and Selma Blair reprising their roles.
The original movie, released in 2004, cost an estimated $66 million; it grossed $100 million worldwide.
