According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Studios has bought the rights the Boom! Studios horror comic Tag, by Keith Giffen and Kody Chamberlain.
Marc Platt (Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life, Legally Blonde) will produce the film, along with Boom! Studios’ Ross Richie and Andrew Cosby.
Tag is about an average guy who’s “tagged” by a random stranger, marking him with an ancient pagan curse. As his body begins to decompose more and more each day, he must either give into the curse or pass it along to the next victim.
Giffen is a longtime writer and artist whose current work includes Hero Squared for Boom!, 52 and Blue Beetle for DC, and I Luv Halloween for Tokyopop.
Chamberlain is best known for his work on IDW’s 30 Days of Nights: Bloodsucker Tales.
