JLU to DVD
TVshowsondvd.com reports that Justice League Unlimited is coming to DVD in October:
The first season of this version of the show is coming to DVD on October 24th, as a 4-disc set. $44.98 SRP includes 26 episodes with over 10 hours of DC Comics legendary superheroes, and these special features:
- And Justice for All: The Process of Revamping the Series with New Characters and a New Creative Direction.
- Themes of Justice: Choose Your Favorite JLU Musical Theme Audio Tracks.
- Creators’ Commentary on “This Little Piggy” and ‘The Return”.
Justice League Unlimited, which grew out of the regular Justice League cartoon, featured Green Arrow, Supergirl, the Question, Captain Atom and countless others joining the animated Justice League team in defending the world against the likes of Lex Luthor, Cadmus and a government conspiracy.
Update: Props to eagle-eyed reader Charles W., who points out that the first 26 episodes actually includes the first two seasons of the show. More episode info can be found here.
Resident Evil enters the wasteland in third movie
Joystiq reports on the third Resident Evil movie, which sounds like a mash-up of the game and the Road Warrior:
Interestingly enough, the third film just happens to be set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, which is either a tired narrative device or some sort of meta-commentary on the series itself. The world’s been overrun with undead fellows and the only survivors, which include Milla Jovovich’s Alice, Jill Valentine and Code Veronica escapee Claire Redfield, must make a run for it in armored convoys.
As someone who has played just about all the Resident Evil games, I have to wonder what happened to all the male characters that appeared in the games … maybe they’re zombie food?
Harryhausen comes to comics
New comics based on the works of Ray Harryhausen will appear in December, courtesy of Blue Water Productions. Harryhausen produced and provided the effects for movies like The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and Clash of the Titans.
The comics will be “new stories based on his ideas” rather than sequels. The first three titles are Wrath of the Titans, 20 Million Miles From Earth and Sinbad, Rogue of Mars. Harryhausen will also contribute ideas to another Blue Water project, The 10th Muse.

At 26 episodes, the JLU collection should actually contain two seasons’ worth of shows, since the show was then made up of single episodes, unlike the two-parters in the previous seasons. This’ll collect the entirety of the Project Cadmus stuff, leaving only the final “Legion of Doom” season for a later, final volume. (If I remember correctly, anyway . . .)

Ohhhhhh … good point. The first season ended with the Batman Beyond episode, IIRC … season two was the Lex showdown. I’ve corrected the post.
It seems odd that they would collect 26 episodes and leave the remaining 13 to another DVD collection… it almost seems like they need a fourth season to round out that second DVD set.
